Student Opportunities

High School Student Volunteer Opportunities (age 14+)

At this time we do not have recurring volunteer opportunities available for high school students.  Please see the options below to gain volunteer hours including our Adopt a Shelf food drive opportunities.

Student Co-op Program

Kerr Street Mission’s Student Co-op Program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience while making a meaningful impact on their community. Participants not only learn about the inner workings of a non-profit organization but also develop essential skills in leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. This hands-on experience not only enhances their resumes, but also instills a sense of social responsibility, empowering them to be proactive agents of positive change in their communities. Our Student Co-op Program is a win-win, fostering personal growth and making a difference in the lives of those in need!

Leader In Training Program (LIT)

The KSM Leader In Training program is designed to offer high school students that chance to gain hands-on experience working with kids in our after-school Kids’ Clubs recreational programming and provide opportunities for development through high quality training from professionals.

The next Leaders in Training program session runs from April 3 to June 21.   Applications will be accepted between February 26 – March 15.  Please check back if you are interested.

Interested in Running a Food Drive?

Adopt A Shelf Food Drives

The Adopt A Shelf program is  KSM’s fresh take on food drives!  It involves running a focused food drive to stock a specific shelf or shelves in the KSM Market (food bank) for a week or more. With support from KSM, Adopt A Shelf volunteers organize the drives within their neighbourhoods, teams, places of business, churches etc. This is a great opportunity for students, individuals, groups or businesses who are looking to make a difference in a way that is meaningful and very flexible in terms of timing.
