For over 20 years Kerr Street Summer Programs have been helping Oakville families and inspiring their children to be all that they can be. Each summer KSM works with college and high school staff to create inspiring summer memories that will last a lifetime.
KSM seeks individuals that demonstrate the following characteristics:

The following positions are being offered as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is currently pending funding. To be eligible, students must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

The wage range for our summer positions will be between $17.60 – $18.45 per hour.

Sports Camp Counsellor (part-time)
Ages 15-30
The Sports Camp Counsellor leads and supervises children in a safe, fun, and inclusive camp environment, facilitating age-appropriate sports, games, and skill-building activities. They encourage teamwork, fair play, and positive behaviour, while building supportive relationships with campers and assisting with conflict resolution. The counsellor works closely with staff to ensure activities run smoothly, follow safety guidelines, and equipment is properly organized, serving as a positive role model throughout the camp experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide direct supervision to a group of children throughout each day of camp, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive recreational environment.
- Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational sports, games, and physical activities that emphasize fun, participation, and skill development.
- Encourage active participation, teamwork, fair play, and positive sportsmanship among all campers.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere by building positive, respectful relationships with children and youth.
- Actively and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities, serving as a positive role model.
- Support campers in resolving conflicts in a respectful, age-appropriate, and constructive manner.
- Ensure all recreational sports activities are conducted in accordance with safety guidelines and camp policies.
- Report any incidents, injuries, or concerns promptly to the Camp Leader or Supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow counsellors, volunteers, and camp leaders to deliver engaging programming.
- Recognize and support the individual needs, abilities, and interests of each child and youth to help them achieve personal goals at camp.
- Model appropriate behaviour, professionalism, and positive communication in all interactions with staff, campers, families, and the public.
- Assist with the setup, organization, maintenance, and storage of sports equipment and activity areas.
Qualifications:
- Passion for working with children and youth in a sports and recreational setting.
- Strong interest in sports, physical activity, skill development, and team-based games.
- Previous experience working in day camps, sports camps, coaching, recreation programs, or similar environments.
- Ability to lead and engage groups of children in structured sports and physical activities.
- Knowledge of basic sports rules, safety practices, and age-appropriate skill development.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to encourage participation, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship. - Demonstrated ability to manage group behaviour and support respectful conflict resolution.
- Reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic with a hands-on approach to camp activities.
- Ability to organize and care for sports equipment and activity spaces.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification is an asset.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.

Day Camp Counsellor
Ages 15-30
The Day Camp Counsellor helps deliver high-quality developmental and recreational programming for children and youth in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. They provide attentive supervision, lead and participate in daily activities, and foster positive relationships while encouraging teamwork, inclusion, and personal growth. The counsellor works closely with fellow staff to ensure smooth operations, maintains a safe and respectful environment, and serves as a positive role model throughout the camp experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide consistent, attentive supervision to a group of children each day to ensure their safety, well-being, and positive camp experience.
- Deliver high-quality recreational and developmental day camp programming that is engaging, inclusive, and age appropriate.
- Actively plan, lead, and participate in daily camp activities, including games, creative activities, outdoor play, trips, and special events.
- Build positive relationships with campers by establishing trust, rapport, and open communication.
- Manage group behaviour using positive, respectful, and inclusive strategies to maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment.
- Recognize and support the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all children and youth, helping them work toward personal goals and build confidence.
- Encourage participation, cooperation, and positive social interactions among campers.
- Work collaboratively with fellow counsellors, camp leaders, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations and program consistency.
- Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
- Report any incidents, injuries, or concerns promptly to the Camp Leader or Supervisor.
- Assist with the setup, organization, care, and cleanup of program materials, equipment, and activity areas.
- Model professionalism and appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff, campers, families, and the public.
Qualifications:
- Passion for working with children and youth in a recreational or developmental setting.
- Experience supervising or working with groups of children in camps, childcare, recreation, coaching, or similar environments.
- Ability to provide consistent, attentive supervision while ensuring the emotional and physical safety of participants.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers.

Day Camp Leader
Ages 18 (post secondary) – 30
The Day Camp Leader oversees the planning, organization, and delivery of high-quality, age-appropriate day camp programs for children and youth. They provide leadership and support to camp staff, ensure activities run smoothly and safely, and foster a positive, inclusive camp environment. The leader monitors and evaluates daily operations, offers guidance and feedback to staff, and assists with the care and management of camp facilities, equipment, and supplies while modeling professionalism at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate day camp programs for children and youth.
- Develop and manage daily and weekly schedules of activities for each age group.
- Ensure daily camp activities are well organized, run smoothly, and meet program quality standards.
- Provide direct leadership and support to camp staff, ensuring they are actively engaged with campers.
- Supervise, monitor, and evaluate all aspects of camp programming and daily operations.
- Be actively present within programming, offering guidance, feedback, and problem-solving support to staff as needed.
- Hold regular meetings with staff to review programming, schedules, and plans for upcoming days or weeks.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment for campers and staff.
- Model professional, respectful, and appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff, campers, families, and the public.
- Assist with the management, care, and proper use of camp facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure activity areas are kept clean, organized, and safe on a consistent basis.
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or operational needs to camp management in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Passion for working with children and youth in a camp or recreational setting.
- Previous experience in day camps, recreation programs, coaching, or related environments, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate camp programming.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to supervise, support, and provide constructive feedback to camp staff.
- Experience with scheduling activities and coordinating daily program operations.
- Ability to ensure programs run smoothly, safely, and in accordance with camp standards.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to facility and equipment care.
- Professionalism and ability to model appropriate behaviour at all times.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification is an asset.

Administrative Assistant
Ages 18 (post secondary) – 30
The Summer Programs Administrative Assistant oversees all administrative aspects of Day Camp and Sports Camp operations, including registration, attendance tracking, communications, invoicing, and the coordination of special events and field trips. This role ensures accurate records, manages daily sign-in and sign-out procedures, prepares reports, and supports smooth camp operations through organization and timely completion of administrative tasks. The Administrative Assistant communicates professionally with parents, staff, and external partners, maintains organized files and databases, and models professionalism in all interactions.
*This position does not involve working with children or youth within day camp programming or activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee all administrative functions related to Summer Programs, including Day Camp and Sports Camp operations.
- Manage the registration process for all Day Camp and Sports Camp participants, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of records.
- Prepare, distribute, and track invoices; accurately record all payments received and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with parents/guardians, summer staff, and organizational staff.
- Prepare and provide daily and weekly attendance reports, group lists, and registration updates for camp staff.
- Manage daily camp sign-in and sign-out procedures, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
- Assist with the coordination and booking of group field trips and special events, including transportation arrangements.
- Prepare reports and documentation for third parties when required.
- Support overall camp operations by assisting with administrative and logistical tasks as needed.
- Ensure all paperwork, invoices, and records are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date administrative files and databases.
- Model professional, respectful, and appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff, parents/guardians, and the public.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience in an administrative, office, or customer service–related role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with parents, staff, and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information responsibly.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, and leadership abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification is considered an asset.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
