For over 20 years Kerr Street Day Camp (KSDC) has been helping Oakville families and inspiring their children to be all that they can be. Each summer KSM works with college and high school staff to create inspiring summer memories that will last a lifetime.

The following positions are being offered as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is currently pending funding. To be eligible, students must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Kerr Street Summer Program Development & Resource Team
The Summer Program Development & Resource Team serve as important leadership role within Kerr Street Summer Programs and assist in the planning, development and execution of high quality programming for children, youth and families. Each position has a key area of focus and include:

Assistant Day Camp Director
Responsibilities of this job include:

    • Responsible for the management and supervision of Kerr Street Summer Programs
    • Assist the Camp Director in supervising staff orientation, training, and camp operations including programming.
    • Oversee the daily operations of day camp sessions, including any transportation of day campers during off site trips.
    • Encourage staff development through performance evaluations, and in-service activity time.
    • Mitigate Risk wherever possible and make safety recommendations to the Camp Director.
    • Serve as the Camp Director in the event of an emergency where the camp director is unavailable.

Administrative & Communications Support
Responsibilities of this job include:

    • Responsible for the registration of all summer day camp participants.
    • Accurately record all payments received for registrations and follow-up on outstanding balances.
    • Assist the Camp Director in camp operations including budget and parent communications.
    • Submit all paperwork, health records, and invoices to the camp director in a timely manner.
    • Assist in the field trip bookings, including organizing transportation, and ensuring all camper lists are provided on each trip.

Program Directors for ages 5 – 9, Youth (11 & 12), and our Leadership in Training Program (LIT)
Responsibilities of this job include:

    • Create and deliver a fun program to campers.
    • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
    • Supervise and evaluate counsellors to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
    • Responsible for all scheduling of camper activities within each age group.
    • Ensure daily activities are well-run, staff are engaged with the campers, activity areas are cleaned on a consistent basis, activities are running on time, and implementing the agreed upon activities.
    • Should be consistently visiting activity areas to provide feedback, supervision, and mentoring to the staff ensuring a smooth operation.
    • Meet with staff consistently to review programming for the following days/weeks.

Kerr Street Summer Program Section Lead
Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Daily Supervision of campers ages 4 – 14.
  • Create age specific programming for campers that provide an opportunity for : Activity, creativity, socialization, and skill development.
  • Create a positive environment that allows for each individual to grow and learn in their own ways.
  • Do safety checks regularly to ensure that all campers are accounted for, and engaging with one another in a safe and respectful way.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers within your age group to ensure they are providing the best possible experience for our campers.

Kerr Street Summer Program Counsellors
Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Daily supervision of campers ages 4 – 14
  • Lead group conversations, providing opportunities for kids to express their emotions, and needs.
  • Create a positive environment that allows for each individual to grow and learn in their own ways
  • Follow the daily programming created, and ensure that all kids are engaged and having fun.
  • Do safety checks regularly to ensure that all campers are accounted for, and engaging with one another in a safe and respectful way.

Kerr Street Specialty Team (Lifeguard)
Our Lifeguard will be a part time position (10h/week), and will be responsible for the supervision of our children during their pool hours.
