For over 20 years Kerr Street Day Camp (KSDC) has been helping Oakville families and inspiring their children to be all that they can be. Each summer KSM works with college and high school staff to create inspiring summer memories that will last a lifetime.

The following positions are being offered as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is currently pending funding. To be eligible, students must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Day Camp Leader

The Day Camp Leader positions oversee the planning and execution of high-quality day camp activities appropriate for children, youth ages 5 -17. This position is funded within the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.

Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Create and deliver a fun program to children and youth aged 5-17.
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
  • Supervise and evaluate camp counsellors to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
  • Responsible for all scheduling of camper’s activities within each age group.
  • Ensure daily activities are well run, staff are engaged with the campers, activity areas are cleaned on a consistent basis, activities are running on time and implementing the agreed upon activities.
  • Consistently visiting activity areas to provide feedback, supervision and mentoring to the staff, ensuring a smooth operation.
  • Meet with staff to review programming for the following days/weeks
  • Model appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff and the public.

Administrative Assistant​

The Administrative Assistant position oversees all the camps administrative concerns, the registration and attendance of campers, communications, invoice payments and tracking and the coordination and booking of special event and field trips. This position is funded within the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.

Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Responsible for the registration of all Day Camp participants.
  • Create and distribute invoices and accurately, record all payments received for registrations, and follow-up on outstanding balances and invoices.
  • Camp communication to parents, summer staff and organizational staff.
  • Provide staff with daily, weekly camp attendances and group lists.
  • Report to third parties if necessary.
  • Assist in camp related operations.
  • Submit all paperwork and invoices in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for daily camp sign in and sign out procedures.
  • Assist in group field trip bookings ,including organizing transportation.
  • Mitigate risk and make safety recommendations.
  • Model appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff and the public.

Day Camp Counsellor

Day Camp counsellors work building relationships with children and youth while delivering high quality developmental and recreational programming within a specific age group.(ages 5-17). They serve children and youth in need in an identified priority neighbourhood within the Oakville Community. This position is funded within the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.

Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Provides direct supervision to a group of children every day.
  • Builds rapport and manages group behavior to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for children and youth.
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality recreational and developmental day camp programs while ensuring safety of all participants.
  • Fully and enthusiastically participates in all camp activities, including all programs and special events.
  • Recognizes the uniqueness and interests of all children and youth and assists them to successfully achieve their goals at camp.
  • Models appropriate behavior in all interactions with co-workers, staff, and the public, ensuring behavior always aligns with the core values of KSM.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain and deal with sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism.
