A Safe Place for All Youth

Kerr Street Mission is a safe and fun place for youth grade 6 through high school to hang out. All students are warmly welcomed into a community where they will be accepted, encouraged and challenged by our staff, volunteers and their peers.

Whether it is sharing a snack, playing video games, playing in the gym, or just spending time with friends in the lounge, there is always something to do.

Here’s a look at what is happening throughout the week:

Creative
Horizons

Grade 6-12

Mondays | 3 pm – 5:30 pm

Creative Horizons is a place where youth can come to express their creativity. Each week will focus on different artistic mediums from visual art to dance to music to drama. This is a place to connect and express yourself without fear of judgement or harassment. All ages from grade 6 to 12 are welcome to attend and explore their creative side.

Grades 6-12

Tuesdays | 3 pm – 5:30 pm

Girls Connected is a program designed to offer girls from grades 6-12 the opportunity to connect, socialize, and build relationships with one another. We help educate them on real life challenges and choices they will face in their day to day as well as in their future. Topics range from body image, self-esteem, building relationships, positive self-image, the issues faced through social media, and mental health challenges. We hope to prepare them to forge a bright and optimistic future as well as giving them the skills to mentor and be positive peer influences and role models with other women in their community.

Grade 6-8

Tuesdays | 3 pm – 6 pm

Our Jr. High drop-in is a program for youth to come and have a great time at KSM. There will be a chance to hang out in our youth room and play games, get some help with homework, and play sports in our gym.

Tabletop
Gameday

Grade 6-12

Wednesdays | 3 pm – 5:30 pm

Tabletop Gameday is a place for youth to connect over board games, card games, etc. Youth will spend time learning and playing various tabletop games while building relationships and socializing with their peers. Some games will be played in a day others may last multiple weeks. All we know is that it will be a great time for all who attend. All ages from grade 6-12 are welcome to attend and learn some new games or play some old favourites.

High School
Drop-In

Grade 9-12

Tuesdays & Thursdays | 3:30 pm – 6 pm

Our High School drop-in is a chance for high school youth to connect and get together at KSM. There will be time to hangout in our youth centre, play games, and play sports in the gym.

Grade 6 & Up

Fridays | 3 pm – 6 pm

Our Friday Youth drop-in is a chance for youth to come to KSM and hang out with each other. Come to the youth room for video games and board games or hang out in the gym for basketball, volleyball, or any sport you like.

Grade 9 & Up

Fridays | 6 pm – 8:30 pm

Emerge is our Friday night hangout for youth from grade 9-12. We will be partnering with churches around the area to come in on Friday nights and have a meal together with the youth, run some games, and have an awesome time together!

High School Students can gain volunteer hours and leadership experience by helping out in our drop in and sports programing.
