Our New
Refrigerated Truck

With heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Oakville and its Charitable Fund for their extraordinary generosity in fully funding Kerr Street Mission’s first full-sized refrigerated food truck.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Kerr Street Mission officially welcomed its first full-size refrigerated food truck at a ribbon-cutting celebration at 485 Kerr Street in Oakville.

The truck, funded entirely by the Rotary Club of Oakville through its Charitable Fund, was unveiled to KSM’s Senior Leadership Team, Rotary Club members, community leaders, and local media, who joined for a truck demonstration and tours of the food market, child and youth development area, and family care spaces.

The timing couldn’t be more important. September marks Hunger Action Month across Halton, and the need in Oakville is at record levels: Food Market visits have grown more than 300% since 2019, and roughly 1,300 individuals now rely on the Kerr Street Market every week, more than 65,000 visits a year.

Fresh food, including produce and proteins, already makes up more than half of everything KSM distributes. Until now, a small fleet of two vans limited how much fresh food KSM could recover from local retailers and suppliers.

Equipped with a hydraulic lift for safely handling large donations, the new truck dramatically expands that capacity, meaning more healthy food reaches Oakville families, and less goes to waste.

“Food Market visits keep growing, and fresh food is more than half of what we hand out every week. This truck lets us bring in the volumes our partners already have waiting for us, safely and reliably,” said Gary O’Neill, Executive Director of Kerr Street Mission. “The Rotary Club of Oakville didn’t just fund a vehicle. They strengthened the fresh food supply for every family who walks through our doors. We are deeply grateful.”

With 260 regular volunteers giving 400 hours a week alongside a dedicated food services team, Kerr Street Mission is already putting the new truck to work, bringing Oakville one step closer to a future where every family has reliable access to fresh, nutritious food.
