A New Beginning: The Story of a Family’s First Days in Canada
Arriving with Hope
Just three days ago, a family of four arrived in Canada, full of hope, but with little more than two mattresses on the floor to call their new home. No furniture. No kitchen supplies. No comforts, just the courage to start over in a new country, and the will to create a better future.
Yesterday afternoon, they were connected to NCN for the first time. What followed over the next few hours was nothing short of extraordinary.
A Community That Shows Up
By 7:00 p.m., their empty space began to transform into a home. Donors and volunteers stepped up, offering their time, their vehicles, and most importantly, their hearts. Within hours, the family received major household essentials that bring dignity and comfort to daily life.
But more than the furniture, they received a powerful message: you are not alone.
Words from the Heart
The next morning, Paula received a note from the family that filled everyone’s heart with gratitude for being in the position to facilitate this support.
“I would like to sincerely express my deepest gratitude, on behalf of myself, my husband, and our children, for your kindness, generosity, and genuine thoughtfulness. Your benevolence has touched our hearts in a way that words can hardly describe, and we will always remember it with warmth and appreciation.”
Just the Beginning
This is just the start for this family! Next, they will be introducing to volunteers who will come alongside them, supporting their journey as they settle and begin to integrate into the community.
Every person who walks through our doors arrives with a story.
This family’s story is just beginning, and we are honoured to be a small part of it.
