Every Kid Deserves a Memorable Summer

Did you know that 12.4% of children in Oakville
live below the poverty line?

For these children just having adequate shelter, food on the table and clothing is a daily struggle. Making summer camp memories is usually just a dream that is impossible for so many of our dear little ones due to their circumstances. Kerr Street Mission (KSM) believes that every child should have the chance to experience camp and all the special memories that summer camp brings.

In 2018 we hosted the Kerr Street Day Camp at our Kerr Street facility, which was a great success. This allowed us the opportunity to foster community for the children, youth and their families. For Summer 2019, we have combined our Kerr Street Day Camp, Kerr Youth Program and Leaders in Training under one umbrella called Kerr Street Summer Programs. This amalgamation of programs supports our goal and commitment to providing exciting, engaging and continuous programming for our children and youth.  This will also allow us an opportunity to be part of the development of our young leaders. We are planning for another eight fun filled weeks of camp packed with interactive activities, traditional camp games, workshops and of course exciting field trips.

As fun and exciting as summer camp can be – for so many of our families, the reality is that the summer camp fees are often way beyond their budget. They simply canít afford to send their child to camp at $200-$400 per week. Although we offer subsidized fees of $25 per week, the actual cost per child is much more. We are excited about our 2019 summer camp programming and want to be able to bless our children with a memorable camp experience, but we do need your help! Through the sponsorship of a child you can help send a kid to camp.

$160 will send a kid to camp for one week.
$1,300 will send a kid to camp for eight weeks.

Our 2019 goal is to raise $100,000 to help fund the KSM Summer Camp Program – please consider supporting our families by helping us “Send a Kid to Camp”!

On behalf of the KSM staff and the Board of Directors, your support is greatly appreciated.
